Onitsha The Dumping Ground

Onitsha which is one of the biggest and popular market in Nigeria and situated in Anambra State, has become the dumping ground for beggars, destitute and the likes. The Lagos State Government has taking it as an habit of dumping beggars under the Upper Iweka bridge.

This is actually the second time such is happening, 70 people comprising of beggars and homeless were at 3am dumped under the Upper Iweka bridge. According to them, they were arrested by the Lagos State Kick Against Indiscipline Officials (KAI). They were detained for many months by the officers for begging, wandering and other minor offences.

Some of the victims said they didn't know why they should be dumped here as they do not have family members here, rather their families are in Lagos.

The big question is why Onitsha? As this is the second time this year such is happening.

Now this is what I call achievement..yeah..Nigerian's largest online shopping mall just became the first African e-commerce and Nigerian company to be verified by Facebook, and just barely two months ago, they were verified by twitter.

Facebook started a new page recently which allows people and page to be verified thus showing the authenticity of a brand. So far President Jonathan has being the only one in Nigeria to be verified by Facebook, and now Shopkonga, which is the official page of konga.com just ranked second.

Arin Andrews 17, was as at 2years ago, a girl named Emerald while Katie Hill 19, was a boy called Luke. They are both from Tulsa Oklahoma and they both had surgeries to change their gender.

Katie was able to have the surgery done over a year ago after an anonymous donor donated $35,000 after reading her story in a local newspaper, while Arin successfully had his operation in June.

The lovebirds met 2 years ago at a support group for transgender teenagers and became inseparable and encouraging each other through their shared experiences. In the future, Arin will consider going for genital surgery as it could be complicated if carried out now.
