The national christmas tree was initiated by the Federal Capital Territory Administration (FCTA), with the aim of showcasing Nigeria tourism to the world.
The tree is 20.9m high and is located at the Unity fountain park beside Transcorp Hiltol Hotel Abuja. The three is designed in the national colours of green and white.
First Lady, Dame Patience Jonathan will light this first ever christmas tree. Notable Nigerians expected in attendance are members of the National assembly, wives of Govenors, memebers of the Federal Eexcutve Council, chairmen of Area council in the FCT and their wives, heads of ministries, departments and agencies of Government. heads of secretariat departments and agencies of the FCT administratin, dipolmatic corps and the media, among others.
