New Driver's License Requires Medical Verification

Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) has unveiled the new driver's license which involves drivers being declared medically fit before issuance of the license to them.

According to the Corp Marshall, Mr. Osita Chidoka, the new license has security features, intelligence camera and biometrics that will mandate a medical certification for all commercial drivers before issuance. Medical certification on hearing and eye sight, also hypertension, blood sugar among others will be required from commercial drivers.

Also mandatory is a compulsory standard driving school check and a yearly retaining programme to be handled by the drivers' union.

Issuance of this new driver's license will commence immediately as stated by the FRSC while the old driver's license is expected to be wiped out by September, 2013.

It is believed that this new invention will help curb the high rates of accidents involving commercial vehicles in the country. hmm ok o
