Due to age and health concerns, Pope Benedict announced that he will be resigning on the 28th of Febraury, 2013. The 85 year old Papal passed the information in Latin during a meeting of Vatican cardinals on Monday morning.
Pope Benedict called his choice, "A decision of great importance for the life of the church". He happens to be the first pope to make such a decision in nearly 600 years after pope Gregory X11 stepped down in the year 1415 in a deal to end the Great Western Schism among competing papal claimants .
Hmm...this is serious...good decision though so you can look after yourself.
